Wandering women will enjoy Journeywoman, The Magazine for Women Who Love to Travel. The e-zine's slant is feminine, but not cloyingly so. There are tons of tips for women travelers. Our favorite section, Women's Travel Tales, is a potpourri of first-person stories on everything from facing down spiders in India to networking in Hong Kong. The accounts are often invaluable; for instance, writer Megan Durnford, in her "Safe and Solo in Turkey," points out the importance of knowing when sunset will come and a town become deserted. Other highlights include Gal-Friendly City Sites, spotlighting restaurants and hot spots for women worldwide (best title: "The Real New Jersey Where Estrogen Rules,") and the Love Stories collection describing close encounters abroad. Great resources, fun reading.

Ed. note: Many, many thanks for considering us "one of the finest". We're accepting this award on behalf of all the women in the Journeywoman Network who continue to send us their best tips and stories. They're the finest, too!

A Guide To The Best Of The Best

The Web is hardly lacking in travel-related info. But this one's something special -- Journeywoman, a site geared toward women travelers, with advice on where to go and how to handle yourself (and anything else that comes along) once you're there. Female travelers (particularly those traveling alone) are still an oddity in some parts of the world; find out how to make that an advantage rather than a liability at this fun-to-read site.
