Toronto Transit Protects Women
If you are visiting Toronto, Canada, here is something you should know about our transportation system. The transit company is called the TTC and they have an evening "Request Stop Program" that allows women to ask to be let off between stops so that they don't have to walk too far in the dark to get home (or back to their hotel). It is in operation every day from when the streetlights come on in the evening to 5 o'clock in the morning.

Airport Buses in Hong Kong
When arriving at the airport in Hong Kong, check about the "hotel buses" that have stops here. Just ask which one goes to your hotel. They are very clean, quiet, air conditioned, (with space allocated for luggage) and the driver will announce your hotel as he approaches. All of this for a few dollars instead of the $20.00 US for a taxi one way. These buses have a schedule, so inquire about the return trip to the Airport. The money you save can go towards the great shopping you do in this place!

A Touch of Louisiana in Amsterdam
Cajun is a very nice Louisiana style restaurant in the middle of the "De Pijp" area in Amsterdam. Always busy and bustling "De Pijp"is close to the well known "Albert Cuyp" market. Shakespeare in Oregon, USA
Ashland is a beautiful little town in a Southern Oregon mountain valley. Every year from about March through June you can find the Shakespeare Festival there... well-known plays from playwrights such as Tom Stoppard as well as Shakespeare, and lesser-known works that are often even more fun to see! There are many wonderful bed and breakfast inns in this little town (as well as the standard hotel offerings) in a terrific range of prices. My favorite is the Fox House Inn (private hot tubs)...this is where I chose to go for my 30th birthday last year. I would feel completely comfortable traveling here alone. The people are very kind and the scenery is just gorgeous.

Female-friendly Food Stops in Montreal
I want other journey women to know about two female-friendly eateries in Montreal. They are much more than just food stops-- they are fabulously friendly and community-centred. The first is Santropol on the corner of funky Duluth and St. Urbain Streets where you can sit all afternoon, reading the magazines, sipping Hobbit Tea or treating yourself to their amazingly original sandwiches and soups.The other eatery is "Chez Soi" on Marie-Anne and St. Denis, open Mon-Fri, 5-7 pm. For $4.75 you get a delicious vegetarian meal with salad and dessert (and re-fills!) Super friendly and you also get to sit at a round table and meet people from around the neighbourhood!
