10 Top Hostels for Female Travellers

International Women’s Day takes place every year on 8th March. To mark the event HostelBookers handpicks hostels around the world to suit women travellers for whom security, a spot of pampering or the feminine touch matters. Straightening irons? Freshly baked cookies? A candlelit bath time? No problem...

Please note that while each of these hostels have been written up by they are also rated by the women who have used the hostels along the way and are visible when you read their blurbs. We like that!

At the Adventurer Hostel in Los Angeles, girls can opt to stay in female-only dorms sleeping 4, 8 or 20 people. Some offer private bathrooms, TVs and mini bars. You are on holiday after all, so, the hostel offers a professional daily cleaning service, meaning you don’t have to lift a finger to make your bed each morning! Girls can indulge in free and freshly baked cookies each morning as well as coffee, muffins, popcorn and a free evening buffet. There are even free glasses of champagne available for an hour every evening. Lounge by the heated outdoor pool or alternatively, pack your beach towel and hop on the free shuttle service to Playa Del Ray Beach.

This is a great destination for a girlie getaway with plenty of glamorous parties to please night owls. The Miami Hostel is on South Beach and has 8, 10 and 12-bed female dorms available. The hostel offers a comfy lounge area as well as a roof deck. Staff organise outings and events throughout the week so guests have plenty of opportunities to meet their fellow travellers.

Sugar and spice, and all things nice: That’s what to expect from St Christopher’s Orient Espresso hostel which is an all female London hostel. Women can take their pick of private, 4-bed or 8-bed dorms. Snuggle up in warm duvets, fluffy pillows and new mattresses. Glide down scented hallways and for a night on the town, ladies will appreciate the full length mirrors for those, ‘Am I dressed appropriately?’ moments. Forget lugging about unnecessary luggage; hairdryers, lotions and potions are all available. The hostel is above a cute little coffee shop; perfect for your free frothy cappuccino in the morning.
