Steuer
Hosiery...
31 West 32nd Street (between
Fifth & Sixth Avenues)
212.563.0052
New outfit?
Check! Shoes? Check! Jewelry? Check! Hosiery?...
Let's face it, we're always in need of some hosiery
and, unfortunately, it doesn't come cheaply. Well,
not at most stores anyway. Steuer
Hosiery is different. Here, you can pick
up three pairs of pantyhose, tights, what-have-you
for the price you'd pay for one in a typical department
store. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful
-- always a plus -- and this is one of the few wholesale
places in New York where regular Journey Women like
us are welcome! Take them up on their hospitality.

Kids
Are Magic...
2293 Broadway (between 82nd
& 83rd Streets)
212.875.9240
Finally,
after all this splurging on "you", feelings
of guilt are normal. So why not counter all that
self-centered buying with a trip to Kids
Are Magic. With two levels of brand name
kid's clothing at 40 - 60 percent off (and an enormous
toy section), I dare you to go home empty-handed.
P.S. Sizes range from infants clothing, up to boys'
size 20 and girls' size 14. Definitely worth a stop!

Breakfast
at Tiffany's...
727 Fifth Avenue (at 57th Street)
212.755.8000
Perhaps
it's because of our immediate association with a
certain little-black-dress-clad actress, but nothing
spells glamour in New York City like a shopping
spree at Tiffany's. When money is no object, there's
nothing more therapeutic than spending several hundred
(or perhaps several thousand) dollars on all the
completely unnecessary luxuries that Tiffany
& Co. has to offer. Whether you intend
to buy, buy, buy or simply to browse, browse, browse,
browse -- this particular landmark is a wonderful
stop for breakfast or any other time of day. |
Thoughts
on New York Shopping...

Sometimes it seems as if all of New
York City is one enormous shopping center, with
new stores opening up and older ones closing down
daily.
(Christiane Bird -- Moon Travel Handbooks)
New York City
stands alone as the shopping capital of the universe.
(Avante Guide, New York City)
Cash prices
are usually better on the lower East Side, so
don't be afraid to do a little bit of haggling
here.
(Gerry Frank, Where To Find It, Buy It, Eat
It in New York)
No matter
how strange or obscure the item, it seems to me
that in New York there is at least one shop that
sells what you are looking for.
