| Where
I stay in Paris...
In
Paris I love to stay at Hotel des
3 Collèges. JourneyWomen can expect a tiny
perfect room and private bath, bright, fresh and nicely designed,
including a desk. They offer single and double rates that
don't include breakfast, but it can be ordered separately.
The neighborhood is great: a student district (around the
corner from the Sorbonne), a short walk to Luxembourg Gardens
(lovely for breakfast on a sunny morning), a block from rue
St. Michael. It's a good 5 minute walk to the metro (but in
Paris, who cares?). Address: 16, rue Cujas, 75005 Paris, Tel:
1 43 54 67 30, Fax: 011 33 1 46 34 02 99

| Another
vote for the same hotel...
The last three times
I've been to Paris, I have stayed at Hotel
des 3 Collèges. This was an hotel tip I
originally found through Journeywoman and it was very much
appreciated. I'm staying there again with my mother this year.

Gem in Paris...
I
spent a week on my own at the Hotel
Practic in the Marais district in Paris. This little
gem is on a quiet street near Place Des Voges, a short walk
to almost everything. The neighborhood is wonderful. The hotel
is on a quiet square but close to a metro stop -- perfect
for a woman traveling alone. My room was on the sixth floor
(no elevator) but the walk up was good exercise. I left the
hotel at midnight my first night and walked across the Seine
to the Latin Quarter. It was cold and moist and I tell you
when I came upon Notre Dame, in the mist, at night -- she
took my breath away. P.S. If you go be sure to ask for the
top floor room on the square. The interior rooms aren't so
nice but the ones in front are good value. Contact: 9, rue
d'Ormesson, Paris 75004. Tel: 48 87 80 47, Metro: St Paul.

| Small
Hotel in Paris...
I
always use the well-priced and friendly, family, Hotel

It's in the Latin Quarter within walking distance to Musee
D'Orsay, Les Halles, Louvre, St. Germain Des Pres and, lots
more. Tel: 33.1.43.26.2903. Fax: 33.1.43.29.7560. E-mail:

| Fun ambiance...
You can't beat this place
for Left Bank location or ambiance. L'Atelier
Montparnasse, a three star hotel, sits a stone's
throw from the metro, and the cafes where artists the likes
of Picasso and Chagall once did their thinking. This women-owned
whimsical address pays homage to the area's rich "art"
history. Over the tub in each bathroom is a large, colorful
mosaic of a well-known masterpiece. Who do you want to shower
with, ladies -- Gauguin or Modigliani? Rooms are quiet, small
and cozy. Address: 49, rue Vavin, 75006 Paris. Metro: Notre-Dame-des-Champs,
Montparnasse. E-mail: hotel@ateliermontparnasse.com

| My fab
apartment find in Paris...
I
happened to be in Paris during a season of fully-booked hotels
and was fortunate enough to find a very cute furnished studio
in a modern building in the heart of the city's shopping district.
This second floor apartment has a fully equipped kitchenette,
separate toilet and shower, double Japanese futon bed, dining
table for 4 and a small living room set of coffee table and
2 arm chairs. The complete cost for this 25 sq. meter unit
was only US$500 per week. That fee also included maid service!
If any JourneyWomen are interested in further information,
they can contact Yannick Gautier at 33-1-4878-8888 or e-mail:
bocoray@wanadoo.fr. The apartment location is very accessible
to the metro station. It's also close to the Paris Opera,
within walking distance to Montmartre and Sacre Coeur and
in the heart of the downtown shopping area. In fact, Yannick
operates a home decor boutique at nearby Galeries Lafayettes.
A real steal!
