Pajamas, robes and nighties... I
found Balwin Linen and Arts quite by chance. They carry a nice assortment
of nightgowns and pajamas. The shop is located at 37A Lock Road (Right behind
Hyatt on Nathan Road at Peking). Seems to be a family business, very nice people
and they spoke excellent English. Karen Zabawa, Toronto, Canada |

Shes an eyeglass expert...
I
enjoy wearing glasses and own quite a few pairs. For funky, stylish reliable products
I offer your readers my favorite shop -- Berlin Optical (Patterson Street,
Causeway Bay). They stock up-to-the-minute frames from all over the world and
you can even have your eyes tested by qualified opticians there. Prices go from
very reasonable to upmarket. Jeannie Hau, Hong Kong Guide, Hong Kong |

Rave reviews for Shanghai Tang... Boy
do I love Hong Kong! You probably already know all about Shanghai Tang.
Expensive, but such wonderful stuff! Susan Spano, L.A. Times Travel Columnist,
USA Our favourite store in Hong Kong has to be Shanghai Tang
- just the smell of it is fabulous. Even if you are on a budget you can buy matches
for gifts to take home. Lee Ridder and Jean Kelly, Melbourne Australia Ed.
note: I agree! Shanghai Tang is my absolute favorite clothing
shop in Hong Kong. Their fashions for women (and men) are a wonderful blend of
Eastern and Western influences all presented in exciting vibrant colours. My Shanghai
Tang Mao-style white silk shirt is a formal high point in my otherwise
conservative travel wardrobe. (The Pedder Building, 12 Pedder Street, Central) |

Sexy, black underwear... All
women were not created equal and in Hong Kong, Caucasian gals generally will have
a hard time finding underthings designed to fit their bodies. But, at Marguerite
Lees your search for a sexy black bra is over. Shes got it! (Two
locations -- Peninsula Hotel and Harbour City).
P.S. Marks and Spencer (Central) will probably also have your
size but you will get much more practical styling. Sian Griffiths, Director
of Public Relations, The Peninsula, Hong Kong |

Back-packing kind of girls... If
youre a back-packing kind of girl, you will enjoy checking out the Mountaineering
Training Centre (Fa Yuen Street, Monkok). They are one of the most reasonably
priced shops of this type in HK and they stock all matter of hiking accessories
including womens sturdy boots and warm underwear. Jeannie Hau, Tour
Guide, Hong Kong | |
Giant shopping malls... Time
Square in Causeway Bay is a great place to find everything under one roof
in air-conditioned bliss. It is divided into four levels: The Market (which includes
City Super Supermarket), Lane Crawford Place (which houses top designer labels),
The Atrium (which has a whole range of shops including Tower Records and Marks
& Spencer) and a top level devoted to eateries serving a variety of local
and international cuisine. Pacific Place is another mall worth visiting.
In addition to all the major stores and a mix of Asian and Western fast food outlets,
bistros and wine bars, Pacific Place also houses Seabee department store with
the fabulous international Coo food hall. Located above the mall are the Corned,
Island Shangri-La Hotel, and Marietta, all of which offer delicious teas for the
weary woman shopper. Both of these shopping plazas can be reached by MTR.
-- Causeway Bay station for Times Square, and Admiralty Station for Pacific Place.

Tip -- Good shopping gets even better...
The shopping in Hong Kong is wonderful but
it gets even better twice a year during sale times. Many female travellers time
their visits here to coincide with these shopping extravaganzas. To really shop
till you drop I suggest the summer sales in June and July as well as Chinese
New Year sales in February and March. Expect exciting discounts of between
40-80% on just about everything! P.S. You
can also expect hot, hot, hot weather during the summer and an average temperature
of between 15-20 degrees Celsius (with occasional drops to about 5 degrees Celsius,
so be prepared) in February and March.

| When buying pearls... Never
buy pearls if they are displayed to you on black velvet. Know why? It makes
the pearls look more lustrous than they really are. Instead, ask the merchant
to place them on a yellow background and see how luminous they appear that way.
