Around The World And Back Again

Allow me to introduce myself; I’m Nadine, a travel expert who like many is suffering the gloom of the recession and almost grabbing for straws in my search for excitement in 2009. I also have a somewhat shameful confession to make as an expert of this industry, which is that despite my extensive travels, I have yet to take a proper round the world trip. As such, I’ve decided to combat my current inertness by mapping out a potential travel itinerary. So if any other gals out there are looking for a multi-leg adventure, here’s are some of my suggestions.

New York...

Why not start your journey with the city that never sleeps, New York. Not only is it a global financial hub, it’s also a centre of culture, an icon of fashion and a trend setter for all that is classifiable as avant garde. Its broad range of offerings mean that travellers boarding flights to New York can look forward to pretty much anything their heart desires whether it be theatre, shopping, delectable food or fabulous night life – the Big Apple has it all.

P.S. Before we proceed further, those ladies who are pregnant or have families might be concerned over the logistics of travelling with children. But there’s no reason why you can’t enjoy at least a portion of this adventure. The website Cheapflights.co.uk shows you how with tips on Travelling with Children and Travelling When Pregnant to create a bump free voyage – pardon the pun.

Florida...

Back over on the south eastern coast of the US lays Florida, home to Orlando’s Disney World where Mickey Mouse awaits to welcome adoring fans from all walks of life. But flights to Florida offer more than a trip into fantasy because the ‘Sunshine State’ also comprises miles of sandy beaches and impressive museums. Alternatively, those heading down to Miami can indulge in decadent night life and divers will be happy to note that Florida holds North America’s only live coral barrier reef.

Canada...

And for those craving the great outdoors, flights to Canada are the ones to book because this vast land serves up everything from the national parks, lakes and rivers of Toronto and Ottawa to swimming at the beach or enjoying some of the world’s best skiing in Vancouver. Whatever your appetite for activity commands, Canada’s choices are limitless.

Thailand...

Away from the North Americas and over to the east where flights to Thailand beckon infused with coconut flavoured cuisine, cocktails drenched with fresh exotic fruits, and infamous nightlife. Although thoughts of Thailand normally conjure images of white sandy beach, its nature is also laced with mountains and lush rainforests. And for a city vibe, visitors to its capital, Bangkok, can look forward to experiencing its renowned temples, street markets, boating trips on the Chao Praya River and strolls through Lumpini Park.

India...

In keeping with the eastern theme are those passengers disembarking from flights to India, a world brimming over with sights, sounds, colours and scents to permeate and delight your senses. This land of spirituality juxtaposed by opulence and poverty offers a boundless choice of notorious attractions such as the Taj Mahal in Agra, the Golden Temple of Amritsar, the Rajasthan Forts and the Kerala Backwaters. But India is more than just a cultural haven of palaces, forts and temples; it also offers an exuberant nightlife, world class hotels, a rich and vast cuisine, celebrated markets and glorious beaches.

Turkey...

Away from the east and moving back towards the west is Turkey, where Occident and Orient blend together to create an irresistible cocktail. Travellers stepping off flights to Turkey can take their pick of sun, sand and clear blue sea or vibrant markets packed with retail therapy and bustling nightlife. Istanbul in particular is noted around the world for its outstanding quality and quantity of bars, clubs and restaurants. For a truly Turkish experience combining nightlife with food stalls, venture over to Cicek Pasaj in Beyoglu. And don’t forget to pick up some Turkish Delight – its scrumptious sweetness and mouth watering flavour will no doubt leave you feeling absolutely delighted!

Spain...

Spain, a home away from home for British travellers, many of whom step off flights to Tenerife and head into their holiday home by the beach. But this island in the Canaries offers a lot more than just fun in the sun and raucous clubbing at night. Santa Cruz, its capital city, boasts a beautiful port and is home to tax free shopping, one of Spain’s most renowned carnivals and Teide National Park. As far as beaches go, some of the most notable shores include Las Teresitas, Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos.

Amsterdam...

Last stop Amsterdam, the city that is most highly frequented by those who wish to partake in its rather liberal lifestyle. But travellers disembarking flights to Amsterdam can look forward to much more than the red light district. The list of tourist attractions held by this architectural gem goes on for miles. Not only does it offer stunning views with its famed waterways and canal houses, it also houses exceptional museums like the Van Gogh Museum and Rembrandt House. Moreover, most of its cultural events are scheduled from September through June, which also happens to be it's off peak season where you'll have access to plenty of cheap flights.

That concludes our round the world diary for now ladies. Hope you’ve enjoyed the ride and if you do head over to any (or all) of these locales, then I wish you happy trails.
