International Women's Day 2015 - A shout out to women around the world

Little girl with orange fingers, Morocco

I visited Tighanimine Women's Argan Oil Co-operative in Agadir, Morocco. After the visit I went outside and discovered this little girl with bright orange fingers stained from henna picking. She was intrigued to see her photo on my camera screen and giggled at her image before running off to play.

Four generations, Ireland

It's not everyday that four generations of a family are together. At a wedding in Thurles, Co. Tipperary, Ireland four generations of Irish women came together to celebrate a wonderful occasion - Great grand-mother, grandmother, mother, daughter.

Maras, Scared Valley, Peru

In the town of Maras, in the Sacred Valley region of Peru, the women in this area carry babies, groceries, whatever needs to be carried, on their backs. No one carries a purse so maybe this technique has its merits!

Tsuu T'ina Pow Wow, Calgary, Canada

Grandmothers are the same everywhere! At the Tsuu T'ina Pow Wow and Rodeo near Calgary, Canada, these proud elders watched their beautifully dressed grandchildren parading and dancing. It was a thrill to hear the steady beat of the drums, the voices singing, bells ringing and then it was time for the grand entry of native dancers from across North America in elaborate traditional garments.

Carlisle Bay, Barbados

While snorkelling on the shallow wrecks in Carlisle Bay on Barbados' south coast, I caught this image of a young paddle boarder. Although she is almost silhouetted against the setting sun, you can see that she's smiling, clearly enjoying her time out on the water.

India beads

I found this woman selling trinkets outside the Ahilya Fort in Maheshwar, Madhya Pradesh, India. I thought she was as beautiful as the beads she was selling.
