Turkey - One Photo Is Worth 1000 Words

Next we flew from Istanbul to Trabzon ...

Trabzon is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey. I was delighted to head in that direction. Most North American tourists don't travel this route. However, the Turks love to enjoy the sea and the Uzungol lake area. You can be sure this was a perfect place for the nature-lover and portrait-taker in me.

Near the seashore we enjoyed a traditional Turkish breakfast in a courtyard restaurant close to the Hagia Sophia Church/Mosque. This site dates back to the 13th Century and is considered one of the best examples of Byzantine architecture.

Our breakfast table was long and absolutely laden with wonderful new tastes.

Nearby, Turkish warmth was very much there when a table of Turks toasted me and my camera.

I had never heard of Lake Uzungol before this ...

What a gorgeous site! In a way, the fir trees and lakeshore reminded me of my own Canadian landscape.

Look at these two young women I encountered while walking on the path around the lake. They met me only two minutes before this photo was taken but they were still so ready to smile.

And, these young men agreed to take this 'selfie-style' photo using my iPhone. We did the negotiating with sign language. They thought the whole idea was a hoot.
