In Russia the month of May marks the start of White Nights (Belyi Nochi) and Journeywoman was lucky enough to be there on a Grand Circle Travel River Cruise during that time. That meant that while I was in Russia the sun rose around 5:00 AM and set close to 11:00 PM every day. I became hyper aware of the prolonged light (or loss of light) during my waking hours. And being on holiday my camera was ever present to record how that light played out on the water, land, sky, clouds and buildings. Here's a sampling of what I saw starting from my airplane descent into Saint Petersburg to some of the most gorgeous sunsets I've ever seen. I hope these photos make you curious enough to want to see this part of the world, yourself. Enjoy, everybody!
